The weeklong Key West premier of Jim Herlihy's "All Fall Down" was at the San Carlos Institute. Part of the movie was filmed in Key West.

The Monroe County Commission voted to continue running the county by the committee system.

Formal charges of conspiracy to commit extortion against Sheriff John M. Spottswood were brought against five men, and warrants issued for their arrest.
