Truman Waterfront park plan OK'd

'Monumental' approval comes after 12 years of debate

Key West city commissioners approved a plan Monday night that is a framework for the development of land granted to the city by the Navy 15 years ago.

While much work remains for the park slated for the Truman Waterfront to become a reality -- workshops and other meetings are expected to continue into the next year -- Monday's vote was seen as an important step forward.

Given the average life expectancy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_expectancy anyone 55 or older will never see it completed at the rate they have been going so far.

.....and the citizens get the crumbs and bones after the vultures ravage the carcass. It would be funny if it weren't so sad. If you're feeling froggy hop on down to the property and feast your eyes on the "park" that was recently installed. It consists of an obstacle course disguised as a parking lot, a lone picnic table (aka bum bed), three pallets of St. Augustine sod (destined to be a weed patch in 90 days) and thirty seven bags of mulch sprinkled under a shade tree. Welcome to your new Peasant Park. From this park you will be able to view the local tribal rulers as they develop the rest of the public property for their profit and entertainment. Don't forget your parasol it's awful hot out there.
