Credit union honors Safonova-Lynn

Keys Federal Credit Union recently recognized Tatiana Safonova-Lynn, member services representative, for five years of service.

Originally from Russia, Safonova-Lynn said she enjoys working at the credit union and speaking different languages to customers, according to a press release.

She has a master's degree in journalism and started her career as a news reporter for television and newspapers.

Water utility recognizes Lopez, Valdivieso

The Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority recognized two long-term employees at its April 25 board meeting.

Operations Supervisor Calvin Lopez celebrated his 35th service anniversary. He started with the utility in 1976 as a plant operator watchman, and worked his way up to a pipe fitter before being promoted to his current position.

Carlos Valdivieso has been a construction worker for the utility for 15 years.

Voices for children installs board

The 2012 board of directors for Voices for Florida Keys Children was installed April 3 at a luncheon at the Islamorada Fishing Club.

The Voices' mission is to establish and maintain an organization to help with the recruitment and retention of Guardian ad Litem volunteers, who speak in court for the interests of abused, abandoned and neglected children, and to raise and distribute funds for medical, social, educational and legal needs of Monroe County children.

Zonta honors Wise

Zonta Club of Key West recently announced Penni Wise as the March 2012 Zontian of the month.

Wise has a bachelor's degree in nursing from Jacksonville University and a master's degree from the University of Phoenix.

She is a nursing professor at Florida Keys Community College and has been a member of Zonta since September 2010.

Wise is active in the fellowship committee as well as the ABC Walk/Run and Media Zonta Day, which raises funds for various community service projects.
