Over the past decades, our city and county appointed many local citizens to man many affordable housing committees, myself included. Together we have struggled to craft legislation to protect workforce housing, create more workforce housing and finally to ensure that any new market-rate housing entering our system would provide, in perpetuity, an affordable component of at least 30 percent.
