Monsters from the deep (and shallows)

Tourists frequently confess their deepest fears to boat captains when they find themselves floating about the ocean in a small boat. Many of these imaginary horrors focus on being eaten alive by a ravaging shark, or torn apart by some other hideous sea monster. I have to assume these trepidations are deeply rooted in the cinematic terror created by the movie Jaws, news flashes of shark attacks...
