$5,700 sewer fee eyed for Cudjoe
Connection cost for regional system would be higher than Shark Key hookups

Monroe County's engineering staff is recommending a sewer connection fee of $5,700 for businesses and households served by the Cudjoe Regional Wastewater System -- the highest fee so far on county sewer projects.

County Commissioner Kim Wigington says the fee is too high, and proposes reducing it to $4,500.

The County Commission will vote Wednesd...

Head in the Sand politics

Neugent has been on the commission board for over 10 years. He doesn't care he has sewers. If he had any schmatza's he would have put a special tax on all homeowners for that amount of time and there would have been enough money for all of us. When are we going to address the issue of the commission replacing the sewer money they took for the Vandenberg and the Hickory House? What guarantees are we going to get that they will not touch sewer funds in the future for lost, or other causes?

666 Drink Tax has wings...

Let's make it .10 per cocktail/beer and we'll have enough to upgrade the ancient infrastructure (like roads & bridges) in unincorporated Monroe and additionally low cost hook-ups for all Cudjoe Regional Wastewater System users. Monroe County could really prosper from a hefty 'sin tax' that would mostly come from tourist. Heather's 'Toll Road' concept didn't fly but this idea has wings and could take off and resolve some huge problems here. This is first comment that 666 (that devil) ever submitted that I can concur on - hallelujah!

County math

Only in Monroe county can a tax extention, perportedly to only be used to sewer the county, which generates $22,000,000 per year for 15 years end up only providing 50 to 60 million dollars according to the Commisioners???????????????????? The Commissioners must have all learned their math from the Key West school system. Just in case you all went to school in Key West, $22,000,000 X 15 = $330,000,000. As an ex Key West resident I must assume the difference in these figures is built in for under the table payoffs.

Dombroski for commissioner

"Why should we be left holding the bag because we were served last? We didn't ask or decide to be last." Exactly.

$5K doesn't sound too

$5K doesn't sound too unreasonable, but those who paid half that should definitely paid a lot more. just more poor planning by the powers that be in monroe county...

Of course Gastesi does not

Of course Gastesi does not want this tax limited to waste water projects. That would take away the ability for these politicians to use it as they see fit. Enough is enough. Add a 5 cent tax to each drink bought in the county and we will be flush.

The course of true love

The course of true love never runs smooth.

Neugent's bar tab alone

would make it flush!!!!!!!!!!
