1-night stand performances

The Studios of Key West will offer two "One Night Stand" performances on July 7 at the Armory, 600 White St.

The first show will be at 7 p.m.; the second at 9 p.m. Tickets are on sale at The Studios

It's a "madcap theatrical performance" in which participants must create four brand-new 10-minute plays within 24 hours. Groups of actors, writers, directors, and artists and others write scripts, rehearse, plan blocking and create sets. The public is invited to see the results of the frenzied annual event. Tickets are $20 for general seating. Buy them from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the box office.

Tour cistern ecologies by bike

Join The Studios of Key West Artist in Residence Laurencia Strauss for a Saturday bike tour of cistern ecologies on the island, followed by a conversation with the city's sustainability coordinator, Alison Higgins.

"We will visit cisterns that are functioning, adapted, planned, or abandoned to appreciate the history of ingenuity on the island and to recognize current inventive rainwater harvesting strategies," the press release states.

The Cistern Ecologies Bike Tour will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., and the talk with Higgins will be from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m.

Meet at The Studios, 600 White St., at the Armory. Participants must bring their own bicycles.
