Early power outage

KEY WEST: About 1,000 Keys Energy Services customers in Old Town lost power for 86 minutes at 2:54 a.m. Saturday, said spokesman Julio Barroso.

A malfunctioning switch outside the White Street Substation triggered the outage, which was prolonged by a blown insulator, a part that holds power lines in place on poles, near Frances and James streets. Lightning was blamed for the latter.
