Jara looks ahead
Blames his dealings with teachers union

Superintendent Jesus Jara said this week he would not take any other job with the Monroe County School District, in light of the board's recent 4-1 vote for another educator to take the helm.

"The board spoke loud and clear that I am not going to be there," Jara said in an interview. "I'll land on my feet."

The outgoing superintendent, who presided over t...

OK, who is now.............

replaceable due to the new guy picking his own team???

speaking of red-rimmed eyes

What becomes of Jesus' "administrative team" when Mr. Porter arrives? Are the disciples worried?

You'll probably burn the new

guy out too........

Jara; how does it feel to

stand in the unemployment line along with all those Teachers you fired ? While you wait you explain to them about all the "tough" decisions you had to make. Such as firing one the new teachers who was Teacher of the year for her school. Another shocker is there is no free beer and wine at the unemployment office. Yes, please put in that call to Gov. Scott asap; he will be a one term Governer , so get your "favors " in quickly.

Thank You Dr. Jara

Iagave to say that the School Board Members (minus Mr. dick) are all a big disappointment. Not one of them will be getting my vote next time they are up for election...starting with Mr. Griffiths this year. As you said, all of the Board Members voted and agreed with your tough decisions regarding cuts and changes to the budget. And yet, they dont want to back you up with a vote of confidence. They have chosen to begin again with another Superintendent to start all over! If Mr. Porter is to succeed, he is going to have to make the same hard decisions that you made, Dr, Jara. The union may like the way he says it better, but in the end, he is going to have to do more than you did to keep our District on track. Teachers are going to have to stop complaining and work harder to keep their jobs. They are going to have to step up and start all over again to impress the new guy. And quite frankly, I believe you should not have to apologize for you relationship with the union. You did what you had to do to get the job done. Not EVERYONE in the District disagrees with your decisions. As a parent, I want to thank you for your service to our community and wish you the best of luck wherever you end up.

Hey Jara you may be a parent

Hey Jara you may be a parent but your kids are not even here. Stop writing in to the Citizen. There wer other cuts to be made, and if you had any idea about how much work, stress, concern, and time your teachers put in every single day you would not dare say that they should work harder. You know what is wrong with the education down here, is that no one supports the teachers who are actually trying to educate your the students. The students have the same attitude as the community and that are that teachers are the enemy. Fat ass lazy administrators are the enemy. Glad you decided you couldnt get a job here.

Not everyone

Just a major majority of us! Don't let the door hitcha and leave the KEYS when you go...take along all those other admins you and your mentor Burke raised and created jobs for with you!

Give me a break

He applied for an OPEN position. There were far-better qualified candidates that applied. The Board picked the more qualified person. Yes he may have made some tough decisions, which was what he was appointed to do, after his buddy Burke, that brought him here, left. That doesn't mean you're entitiled to preferential treatment when your appointment ends. That's what most of us (I hope) are trying to get the District away from; preferential treatment just because you've been here. He was less qualified. Goodbye.

Break given....and Goodbye!

Let's see how longit takes for the union and teachers to start complaining about Mr. porter!...bet it won't be long! Changes will need too be made in order to keep the District out of the State's hands and those changes won't be any more popular than the ones that Dr. Jara made WITH THE BOARDS MAJORITY APPROVAL! It doesn't matter who was brought in by Dr. Burke or who took over when he left. The person in the SI seat was doomed from day one! And THAT was thanks to Randy Acevedo and the MESS he created and left behind! And remember HE was elected by a MAJORITY of the citizens of ths County. I guess that is one example of the majority not always getting it right!

Nail on the head.

One example of the majority not getting it right!! That seems to be the case from the white house to the school house. Voters need to do better on ALL levels.

The problem is most peope

The problem is most peope don't vote. There is no majority. the Majority sit at home on their fat asses on election day and then complain about the Government.
