Mosquito issues involve genetics
GOP primary candidates weigh in on releasing altered bugs to fight dengue

The possible release of hundreds of genetically engineered mosquitoes in Key West has divided the small city.

Some argue that it is safer than the Florida Keys Mosquito Control District using pesticides to kill mosquitoes. Others fear that it is unnatural and could alter the local ecosystem.

The district is considering partnering with the British-based co...

Joan L-P and Jill C-G share more than hypnated names

What gives Joan Lord-Papy the right to strike a deal with Jill Cranney-Gage to GIVE her the Board position on Mosquito Board? Its not hers to give away, it is the voters who decide who they want on that board. I DO NOT want this young girl who feels entitled to this position because Joan hand picker her. All Jill Cranney-Gage sees is another easy paycheck from taxpayers. She has two high paid positions from public funds (Fkaa and Hospital Administrator) and now she wants a 3rd public salary. Enough is enough!!

Based on all the Bubba homes

Based on all the Bubba homes with huge signs for Vogel and Cranney-Gage, I know who I will NOT be voting for. Back to the past with Bubba? Vote Vogel, Cranney-Gage!

Oops!

Our bad. They just got away!

Genetically modified

Genetically modified animals, especially insects can have catastrophic consequences typically. Research Gypsy moth and killer bees and you will see.

Be Leery of Joan Lord-Papy.

Joan Lord-Papy is out there making statements that Jill Crannel-Gage his her "Protege", this is not good. Better yet Jill is with pride that Joan Lord-Papy is supporting her and working very hard for her. It appears that Joan wants to try and keep some control on the Mosquito Board. Do not be fooled, Joan did not run for re-election because she knew she could not win and she could not handle the feeling of being DEFEATED. Be careful, if there was ever a "Bubba Deal", this is it, the ultimate deal. The LORD & PAPY families have been political power houses in Key West but that was in the past. It is our time and we need new faces and new fresh ideas. Let's clean house and vote for the most QUALIFIED person that will truly work for the residents and not their political connections. BE LEERY.

GUTIERREZ SOUNDS WELL INFORMED

Ms. Gutierrez seems to have a strong edge on understanding the role and responsibilities of the Mosquito Control District. On the other hand Ms. Gage talks the same rhetoric that unqualified candidates use to bluff their way through a campaign. Gage keeps saying its time for the younger generation to step up and take leadership roles, well thats fine if you are ready for the job but Gage has only reached out for community involvement since declaring her campaign. Gutierrez has over 10 years of responsible leadership and decision making roles in the community.
