20-year School Board incumbent proposes district shake-up at forum

The School District could improve its financial management by eliminating the positions of chief financial officer and the internal auditor to make room for a new hire, the School Board's vice chairman said Thursday at a lengthy public forum in Key West.

All you can say is you're a cheerleading coach and a mom? It takes more experience than that to run a school district. Oh I forgot she is thisclose to Randy Acevedo who is helping guide her campaign. Great pictures in the Conch Color of their joint graduation party. I don't like any of these candidates.

She is much more than that!

She has real professional experience in running several successful businesses, a student mentor, a fiscally responsible business partner, a heart for volunteering and NOT close the Randy. The children are close, but he is NOT running her campaign. It's so sad that people like yourself are bent on ruining people's reputation, especially by creating false associations, and extreme conspiracy theories. It is sad, because she is a very viable candidate who has lived a clean life and decided to step up, only to be discredited by these comments. Please give her a fair chance. She has a lot to offer if elected to School Board, is a bright professional with new ideas, and should be given a chance.

You're funny and out of touch. Fiscally responsible? Look up her tax records. Clean living? No comment. Not close to Randy? Funny. They sure do party together. Poor Randy, I hope he doesn't read your post or he will find out the truth.

I too think it's time for a change, but how the hell do you think he got and stayed in office for so long? You people kept voting him in. Unless you're going to step up and run for office or vote for the new people who step up, then stop whining.

i have said it for years and will keep saying it... we need an option on the ballot to vote for "none of the above". we should be able to vote that we don't want any of the choices we're forced to choose from. this is the only way we will get quality people in our elected offices because nobody who would be good at it wants to work with all the other rejects.

Andy should do himself, the school board, the students and the voters a favor by resigning. Now with 2 seconds left on the clock,this 'player' wants to make calls on how the 20-year game should have been played. Too little, too late Griffiths. Miss Talbot was kind to say you stayed one year too long - in reality you should have only served one term which means you stayed in office 16 years too long. Time is up Andy and you are OUT!

In te past year alone, Griffiths has approved the creation of "Chief Operations Officer," "Director of Operations" and "Chief of Staff"---- if anyone can tell me the difference between these three $100,000+ positions you win a prize. Of course after approving superfluous wastes of money, now he wants to cut them... Why didn't you just not create new positions to hire them and save a half million dollars.

He is band wagon jumping to save his skin in the election. We all know that the CFO should be fired anyways for misrepresentation. As far as the internal auditor, they didn't listen to the audit findings anyways. But let him remove these two, then we can remove him.

Griffiths lacks Knowledge, Perspective and a Clear Understanding of what goes into operating a district and educating children. If Griffiths was a nice guy he would have retired and allowed the new leadership to take root. He conceals his selfishness, self-centeredness and graving for power; behind his grins and giggles. What has he done to earn our votes?? The Truth is painful for him. However, we must not take on his pain. Griffiths must be shown the door.

Don't think Mira-Talbott would do anything different. She and the Acevedos are very close and she has stood by them throughout all of the troubles. She didn't think that they deserved what they got.
