Eatery owner must do time

A Wisconsin restaurateur who bought Mangrove Mama's restaurant on Sugarloaf Keys this week is due back in that state by August to serve a 45-day jail sentence on cocaine-related charges, according to court records.

Dane Wisnosky pleaded guilty to two felony charges of dealing cocaine, as well as to two additional misdemeanor charges of possession, on June 5 in Oneida County...

open your eyes

I went to check the place out and I heard that he is retiring and he just owns the property plain and simple. The daughter is the actual owner and I think it’s terrible that the citizen has slandered her business over her dad’s troubles. Also if he was really a "drug dealer" would they really only give him 45 days? Think about that for a second.... P.S. Oh and one other thing I must put out there. By choosing to be ignorant about this and not supporting the local business you are also hurting the employee's pockets & local businesses.

Been there about twice since

Been there about twice since Tom and Iris sold the place and plan to go there even less now that a coke head felon owns the place. Besides, the Grouper rocks.

Zack, Also Try Kaya Eatery At Bay Point

Yeah, the Square Grouper rocks. Have you tried Kaya at Baypoint? I had the best fish dinner in my life at that place. And the desserts are absolutely sinful. Give it a try. You'll be impressed.

New Face, New Beginning

I don't think we should judge a book by its cover. Everyone has done something in their past that they're not proud of. Fortunately, many of us never got caught and/or have all our dirty laundry spread all over the front page of the citizen. We obviously needed a change at MM20, so now we have someone up for the task at hand, and and we give him a nice warm welcome with a blunt front page article. C'mon fellow neighbors! Let's give this father/daughter duo a shot!!

Uh, no.

I am not a felon and I have never been a scumbag drug dealer, so yes, I can judge.

Funniest thing I ever heard!

I believe you very ignorant! What makes you think you can judge anyone in this world? lolol WOW! I'll be laughing all night! Ignorance is so sad! lol

Negative

No, what's sad is people who actually support drug dealers....and this isn't weed we are talking about. It's cocaine. You are in the severe minority by doing so, yet you are too deaf, blind, and dumb to see it. Good luck with that. I feel very sorry for your relatives.

RE: Negative

You feel very sorry for my relatives? Why is that? My relatives love me! I'm a realist! I speak the truth! And the truth that in the Keys you are a minority due to the fact that the majority in the Keys are a bunch of drug addicts! And like I said before, I rubbed shoulders with every walks of life in the Keys! From the well healed elite of Key West, gov officials, teachers, and so on. Why do you think that drug dealers from Miami come to Key West to sell drugs? Because it's a lucrative market due to the amount of consumption from people who have alot of money in the Keys! WAKE UP! WHERE HAVE U BEEN??? And yes, I am a minority! I am a sucessful real estate investor, own a demanding business, I am debt free, do what I want when I want! Yes, I am a minority! That you are right about! lolol

Yea, right.

History has proven that anyone who feels the need to list their resume on an anonymous internet blog is a liar. Forget the relatives. it's you I feel sorry for now.

Please!

I don't want a convicted drug dealer running a bar near my home and my kids' school. Maybe if this was something from a few years ago he deserves another chance. But he was convicted less than two months ago, and still hasn't served his time. And on top of everything else it seems he is putting his daughter in the midst of this, using her as a front for the liquor license! He hasn't shown himself to be deserving of another chance yet.

RE: PLEASE

You don't want a drug dealer near your kids school? WOW! you better start by getting your kid out that school! Let me fill you in, (in case u don't know) that there are teachers and staff that work at sugarloaf that abuse drugs such as cocaine, marijuana, and pills! Thats been that way for a long time! I know one teacher which worked there, her and another present staff member would go to her car and do coke and come back to work with kids! And I know of more at that school! I actually went to sugarloaf for a year when my family moved from Miami Beach to Big Pine in 1992 and I saw actual drug transactions taking a place in class! I couldn't believe it! I was born and raised in Miami Beach and never saw drugs until I moved to the Keys where every kid around me had something to do with drugs! I don't think your from the Keys, or maybe outa the loop a bit, but the Keys is saturated with drugs, even your childs school! So please don't hate the guy down the street with the bar and eatery for that!

WOW is all I can say!!

Just glad your a former keys resident.

WOW! Keys are not what they used to be!

It's amazing what Keys law enforcement spend their time and tax-payer money on! I was a lower keys resident for many years until I started to see B.S. like this happen to people! Who cares if he likes to play around with coke here and there! It's the new breed of snitches and cowards that screw places up like the keys up! Do all you cowards talking bad about this guy know what the Keys was about back in the days? Guess you never knew that if wasn't for coke or pot money, the keys wouldn't even exist on the map! Most established eateries and businesses were established on good ole pot and coke money! And guess what? Your local law enforcement was a big part of it! I with my own eyes saw many keys lawmen unload 80 ft shrimp boats of pot and coke right into semis, vans and whatever they can fit into, they even escorted you out of the keys with it! And I can name so many of them! I was just lil boy watching it all! And damn those were good times! so much money around! So nowadays, you can grow pot alot of states if you pay a hefty tax to the local government, then the federal gov turns their heads due to that the local gov is making lots of money! I don't get that? Why is it ok to prosecute a businessman for playing around with a lil bit of powder, but we can buy pot in many states legally??? And the u.s spends billions a year trying to catch pot smugglers when they are allowed to grow it and sell it right here in America! But in time being, teachers that educate our future leaders are underpaid, people all over have lost there homes due to "ignorant lending practices" Why doesn't the government use those billions fighting and prosecuting petty drug crimes and put it towards education! Because America lacks education! But if they do that, all the lazy, uneducated, fat-donut-eating cops wouldn't have a job! I don't do drugs but I don't care who uses them or sells them! If there was no demand, there wouldn't be a supply! So why hate and talk about a guy who wants to have a good time here and there? If you live in the Keys and your from the old school, watch out! There is new breed of cowards in town! Back in the day these cowards wouldn't even dare to talk trash to a big boy! Old school people, leave that B.S. gossip town! there are plenty of tropical places better than KW, better fishing, no police issues, that are much cheaper than that overated rock!

I don't disagree... but...

Hey, I don't disagree that drugs ought to be decriminalized, and that lots of inconsistencies exist in drug laws. And yes, it's well known that plenty of now-successful Keys businesses were started on money from smuggling. But that doesn't change the fact that this guy's losing his liquor license up north because of coke dealing is going to be problematic for him in the Keys. This isn't hate talk or trash talk. It's just the way things are, Jorgee.

I don't disagree... very true!

Yes very true he will have issues, I was just making a point some people new to the Keys don't understand, They are trashing this guy for this but these same people might well be eating at establishments that were made on smuggling money back then, and that was loads and loads, millions of dollars worth, well you know lol but I do agree its wrong, but some people just need to relax a bit! I hope he does get it together at mangrove mamas, You never know, he might realize the Keys isnt what it used to be! And the damn gov should spend the money educating not fighting a war they will never win! good night!

WOW, didn't know you can walk on water, see the future, are above the normal human being......... Give the guy a break, let him succeed or fail. Who the f are you to judge. Hope you have a great life judging others. HINT: look in the damn mirror once in a while, life goes on.........

Nope

not Jesus, crystal ball, etc., just someone who's sick of seeing people profit off of drugs and live the high life while we work hard to keep what we've got. He doesn't deserve a break. He's buying property with drug money and put it in daughter's name. He was all smug about it in the paper till the sh!t hit the fan. Oh, and I just LOVE what I see in the mirror! Thank you Mango employee.

WOW! LOL

Your really naive aren't you! lol U think that guy bought that place selling lil bit of coke? Gimme a break! Don't hate a successful business man cause he likes to party a lil bit! And by the way, the majority of the Keys either sells drugs, have sold drugs, or do drugs! And more power to the ones who have got rich off it! Why not? The gov does it! Or are you that ignorant you can't figure that out! lol Don't hate on the ones with the "cojones" to sell it and have made alot of money! Your just mad you have to go to work everyday and can't make it in the keys! Well guess what? If you do your history, the Keys was made on coke and pot money! Then came you fools from who knows where and want to change the place! WOW! get over it, get dressed, and go slave at that 9 to 5 you have! lol

WOW

YOU are pathetic. It's a pain just reading your drivel. And for what it's worth, I am a 60-yr old native CONCH. My father's business nor my lively-hood was drug supported.

My, my. You must be one of the Acevedo supporters.

My, my. You must be one of the old Acevedo supporters. Your post has all the same characteristics: No sentence structure, poor punctuation, improper and overuse ellipses and of course, since you people are all crooks, you think EVERYONE is a crook. I have some news for you. While you, your friends and family are evidently dishonest, MOST people are honest and are not crooks. I'm sure you'll fit right in with this guy when (and if) he returns in 45 days.

cokehead or cheesehead

why did he buy Mama's for $800K when he could have bought The Curve for $400K? Locals? Wisconsin? Get ready for lots of extra cheeses with those eggs. Hey man, best of luck, but a rough start. That said, I'll go and try it out. Y'all know we need any good / affordable restaurant we can find - worth the trips. If it's good, I don't care what he sniffs. I sure as hell ain't no angle.

Again

He without sin cast the first stone........

Sure I'm a sinner, but there is sin and there is sin

I've coveted my neighbor's wife. She is really hot! So I'd never cast a stone at someone coveting another's wife, even my own. I've never sold drugs, I've never committed a felony of any kind. So yes, I can and will cast THAT stone! (To my neighbors: acting on a covet of my wife is another level of sin, for that I throw lead. MY wife is hot too.)

That's the kind of post we get from crooks just like him.

That's the kind of post we get from crooks just like him.

It takes all kind.....for you Tina

“Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” ~Luke 23:34 (NRSV)

Are you left

or right handed?

Wonderful

It sounds like the new owner will be a perfect fit for Mama's--not a "dealer" of, but "a source" for Peruvian marching powder. LOL

You can run but you cannot hide.

not even in the Keys.

45 day jail sentence?

He got off pretty damn easy. Yeah, come to Key West with your dirty money and live easy. I TRULY hope his new business fails. What a scumbag.

Don't hate or wish bad on anyone! WOW!

You really do have some issues! Why would you wish bad on a guy who likes to have a good time? What is it to you? Maybe it's because you don't have anything in life to look forward to? I believe so! People who think like you are empty and missing something you can't have! And truth is, he will make it! He's a proven business man! Just because he got caught with i bit of powder? WOW! lol Where are you from? The Florida Keys is saturated with drugs, the keys was built on drugs and the money! Most established Keys eateries have been established by drug smugglers from the 70's and 80's, as a matter of fact most Keys businesses were built on drug money! What world are you from? And your talking down on a guy who just wants to party? lol Let me educate you on something, you don't run a restaurant in the keys by selling lil bits of cocaine! But to wish bad on anyone is just ignorant!

Entrapment?

Entrapment is if someone knocks on your door, asks if you want to buy cocaine, and then arresting you. If you are selling to a circle of friends and one turns informant to save their own skin it is not entrapment. I hope the state gets wind of his attempt to run a bar as a convicted felon.

Yup. I thought that comment was pretty lame myself.

The bankers have to be freaking out. Didn't they do a background check?

He should have hired vogel!

Then he would have recieved time served. Just like Randy!

Mangrove Mama's

mmmm wonder if the new restaurant will be serving specials like 5 Star restaurant use to? And welcome to the keys

He'll fit right in here.

What a novel idea, a Keys restaurant owned by a coke head. Wonder how long it'll be before we again see Mangrove Mama's in the news, hmm?

This is all too rich!

Not a dealer but "a source for cocaine amongst a particular circle of individuals"! I thought was the definition of dealer, but I guess the Keys aren't the only ones with bubba law enforcement. Maybe that should be Druckemiller's defense - she's not a thief, but a supplier of stolen electronics among a certain circle of friends! And in what seems an attempt at avoiding liquor license problems, he is using his daughter as a front. Welcome to the community convicted felon Wisnosky. You'll feel right at home.

Breakfast Special

The new owner of Mangrove Mama's just served his first breakfast special - sloppy eggs right to the face of Claude Gardner and Capital Bank.
