Former Sigsbee Charter School student Elizabeth "Beth" Smith, 12, was first violinist in the Grosse Pointe, Mich., Public Schools intermediate orchestra summer program. She also took classes in the advanced program, the only student to do so ahead of her grade. Beth is the daughter of David and Diane Smith and will enter seventh grade this fall in Grosse Pointe, where the military family has relocated. Beth studied for two years with Juilliard School-trained instructor Paul Dagle, founder of the Key West Violin Studio.
