Key West city commissioners are reconsidering their decision to present voters with the option of allowing annexation, acquisition or purchase of property upon a "supermajority" vote of five commissioners with no additional public approval.

Don't Underestimate the Voters

Remember when the School Board bought Marathon Manor?

Remember when the County Commission bought The Hickory House?

There's a valid reason to limit local government from "acquiring" property that is just as valid as limiting their ability to sell it... and we already have charter protection which requires a referendum to sell property.

I would really hate to see the City Commission decide to purchase The Bahama Village Market!
