Sawyer predicts 40% voter turnout
Contentious races expected to fuel the drive to Monroe County polls

Between a sunny weather report and scattered political squalls, Supervisor of Elections Harry Sawyer predicts a 40 percent voter turnout at today's primary election.

Four years ago, the August primary drew a 27 percent turnout as 12,830 of the Florida Keys' 47,143 registered voters cast ballots.

Was Sawyer OFF!

More like a 30 percent turnout. That is horrible. People really don't appreciate the freedom they have and the political process. If there was a 40 percent turnout, the results could have been different in a number of the races.

It really is unbelievable

It really is unbelievable that 70 percent of the people here don't vote. You get the government you deserve. They will be the first oes complaining when something happens. Shame on you all.
