Proposed charter change is off ballot

The Key West City Commission unanimously voted to undo an action it took last week, by voiding a change to the City Charter that would have come before voters for approval or disapproval in November.

The proposed change would have eliminated the current practice of having voters approve all purchases or acquisitions of property, ranging from rights of way to entire buildings...

What is the City Commission smoking? Developer Dollars?

The electorate voted overwhelmingly to limit the City Government from annexing, buying, or selling property without a vote of the citizens - because they can't be trusted to act in the best interests of the governed

Be assured the highly compensated City Consulaire and City Commissioners will try this end run again to claw power back
