It takes a Conch to recognize another one

The Keys were in the midst of a tropical storm when I came into this world kicking and screaming at the Key West Naval Hospital. A baby being born during a tropical cyclone is probably not a unique experience in the Keys, given the fact we live on a small island chain that juts out into the ocean. What made this event unusual was the fact I was born in February -- not exactly a month you think...
