School Board races head to runoff
Only one race features an incumbent

In addition to choosing a U.S. president on Nov. 6, Monroe County voters also will decide two School Board races that will definitely send one new political newcomer to the five-person board.

The Aug. 14 primary couldn't render decisions in the two nonpartisan School Board contests, District 3, left vacant by the retirement of incumbent Duncan Mathewson, and District 2, in w...

I guess getting removed from office and convicted of a felony

wasn't enough punishment? Acevado lost his job, his reputation, what more did you think any other board chair was going to get in terms of punishment? And the Finance Director provided the documents, finally, because she had to certify that the financials were correct when she knew they weren't. Too bad she didn't do her job and bring the fraud and cover-up to light when she first discovered it. So how should any board member know there is fraud when you had an entire network covering it up?

Talbott is wrong.

Just because the Randy and Monique criminal tag team happened while Griffiths was chairman of the school board, does not make it his fault. The voters hired Acevedo and he promoted Monique and looked the other way as she filled the house with stolen loot. Andy took the evidence to the state. But if you miss the Acevedos, vote for Talbott.

Runoff

Stick to the issues Gwen, what does their children have to do with the election, keep them out of the mud slinging.

Payback time... Conch-style

If Andy Griffiths had not been Chairman of the School Board during the 2009 Acevedo scandal, there would not have even BEEN a prosecution

Griffiths was the third vote to move forward. That vote certainly would not have been Talbott's. Look at her contributors, they are the very same people who supported Acevedo.

Monroe School District does not need a cheerleader for Conch Corruption.

Give me a break Andy

John Dick was in line to be the Chairman that year but Acevedo made a deal with Griffiths to keep John out. I gurarantee you that if either John, Steve or even Duncan were the Chairman, Acevedo would have had it a lot tougher. Everyone knows Richard Collins made Griffiths take a file of worthless papers to the State Attorney's office and now Griffiths is claiming he lead the charge. Go back to an Op -Ed Griffiths wrote just a couple of months before the scandal telling other school board members to lay off his buddy Randy. Griffiths is a career political and no one is dumb enough to believe otherwise

Be careful what you ask for...

Compare the donor lists from Acevedo's campaign with the donor lists for Yvette Talbott. Notice any similarities? Andy isn't running against John Dick, he's running against an Acevedo ally. Your guarantee is meaningless and worthless.

Andys plans for your money

Are Andy's plans for your money similar to when he advocated the purchase of Marathon Manor? (while he simultaneously made millions personally- just blowing taxpayer money) How about his idea to spend taxpayer money on the hickory house? Has he done well with harris school? Giving away Glenn Archer? Moving delinquents into HOB? How about his idea to bring in the $20k consultant for two days work hiring the superintendent. Isn't he the guy who travelled outside of Monroe county to recruit carpetbagger Burke? Didn't he protect Acevedo and jara? Didn't he approve wasting thousands on the IB program? Cutting the funding for state champion academic challenge team and Assistant coaches. Andy Grifdiths IS the virus that's been plaguing our schools.
