Glynn Archer could cost $13M

A report on renovating a former elementary school for use as a city hall in Key West states that at least one of the options would cost more than $13 million.

Assistant City Manager David Fernandez told the City Commission Wednesday night that copies of the 700-plus page draft report prepared by consultants will be available to them on CD-ROM sometime today.

Pet projects?

Our community does not need pet projects from their elected officials. We need sound governance that achieves what is best for the residents of Key West. The mayor was elected to represent citizens' interests and not to further his own. Increasingly, it appears Commissioner Johnston is the only person on the commission asserting her constituents' vision for the city rather than that of developers, tourism and the Chamber. It is time to find a balanced approach to our future -- our current leaning toward business may well lead to the sinking of our little piece of paradise. We must begin to establish quality of life as a metric used to evaluate city-wide challenges and solutions brought to the commission.

Won't say it, won't say it, won't say it...

Hell, sure I will... we told you so.

And this is only the first installment. The decontamination and reconstruction of that dinosaur will end up costing us three times what the Angela St site would.

We can all thank duh mayor at duh next election.

Could Cost

..a little bit of drible, dash of facts, along with same maybe and what do you have, not much to base a comment on, where's the beef? This will produce a cake we can enjoy in about 10 years based on how long it will take to debate before they reach a verdict.

If it means you can keep

If it means you can keep them penned up in there longer it's ok with me.

Cates spends our taxes foolishly

the KOTS shelter , the Archer building , all waste our taxes; I won't waste my vote next election when I vote for someone other than Cates.
