Link family receives $200K from county, undisclosed sum from contractor

Sheriff Bob Peryam has settled a lawsuit brought by the family of a Tavernier man who died just seven hours after being admitted to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office's Stock Island Detention Center in June 2009.

The family of Clayton Link, who was 26 at the time of his death, received $200,000 as per the settlement agreement, which they entered into with Peryam in May. The...

That's really

That's really sad,Condolences to the link family for the child's death but its really ok coz they received the amount of $200K for settlement e discovery services.

Well now

Is this the same provider paying an undisclosed amount that is also paying into Ramsay's election Campaign? Something Stinks in the Sheriffs office.

Condolences

Condolences to the family. I am sure while they may move on their souls will always have an empty place in them. Our society will never know this young mans potential in life. How very sad. It is terrible to lose a child and even more terrible to know the Sherri's office who is supposed to protect it's citizen participated in their child's death through negligence.

I concur

This response below the line had been posted the first time this article appeared on line. The poster is correct in stating Rick Ramsay never takes any responsibility for the bad decisions of the sheriffs office he brushes those off as made by the Sheriff in charge. Funny Ramsay even took credit for a 900k budget cut saying he had to make the "hard choices" when in fact the budget cut came down through the Governors office. So That leaves Ramsay with egg on his face having told an outright LIE. Don't believe me look at the home town PAC videos on youtube. How many more non-truths has he spouted? Will Ramsay say anything to get elected? Most likely since he had to know beyond a shadow of a doubt the 900k was a lie. No wonder the Sheriffs office i.e. Tax payers had to pay this family. No accountability from Sheriff office Admin to do the right thing at the right time. Ramsay only blows smoke! Time for some sunshine in their office and digging up the rest of the untruths Ramsay's told. Like the take home car policy he bragged about, it has still not been instituted but then Ramsay wouldn't tell the public that. He's just smoke and mirrors people. Hang on to your wallets if Ramsay gets elected he will be the most costly sheriff ever!!! We can't afford Ramsays political paybacks. Just look at his donor list to see who he owes. ________________________________________________________________________________ Nothing to see here...go back to sleep Submitted on Thu, 09/06/2012 - 7:05am by Not bubba Greed and reckless disregard for standards of practice should be no reflection on the undersheriff. That's right Rick Ramsay, who if you ask him will quickly tell you he is responsible for every positive thing the Sheriffs office has done in the last twenty five years, would like you all to know this negative incident he does not take credit for. To recap, Rick Ramsay had nothing to do with this negative story involving a company who had the former health services contract at the jail, with the exception of taking thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from the company and several executives with the company. Also remember people the undersheriff had nothing to do with the hiring of former FDLE agent, who resigned under investigation after his criminal charges were resolved , that was the sheriff. According to Ramsay that was the only thing he was not in charge of at the sheriffs office in the last eight years. In fact the story that the citizen wrote about the hiring of the former agent quoted Ramsay, although Ramsay later says the article was how he discovered Peryam had hired the agent. Wow it appears without the undersheriff, sheriff Roth and Peryam would have been lost. In fact the only bad decisions made at the sheriffs office, since Ramsay has been second in command, have been made by the sheriff. Just remember people if its bad, Rick didn't do it, good is all Rick. GO BACK TO SLEEP. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. Wake up people!

Krutko Again, and Again, and.....

Why are you referring to yourself as "the poster." It was you, you idiot. And this is just another attempt in your long string of failed attempts to get back at Monroe County officials for your failed 2005 business where you POS boat was repo'd and house was forclosed on. Get over it already.
