Ownership a million-dollar question
Extensive research shows conflicting information

If a federal ruling is upheld, the Bernstein family's purchase of Wisteria Island off Key West will be one of the most expensive cases of buyer beware in Florida Keys history.

A Sept. 27, 1951, letter from then Florida Attorney General Richard Ervin could be the fatal blow to the ownership claim by the Bernsteins and their partners, comprising the F.E.B. Corp.

How could the State of Florida sell land that was not its to sell?? Interesting.

You can not get adverse possession from the government. They write the laws.

Pay them the just value

According to the Monroe County Property Appraiser, the island is worth $17,900. They may have been paying tax, but not very much. The land under my house is valued at $500,000, and it is a substandard lot, according to zoning.
