LOWER KEYS

Castaways pool party helps animals

The Southernmost Coconut Castaways, the fan club of Howard Livingston and the Mile Marker 24 Band, will host a pool party from noon-4 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Lazy Lakes RV Resort near Mile Marker 20.

Members and non-members are invited to relax in the pool, bring their own cooler of beverages and snacks to share. The group also will be collecting donations of money and supplies for the Florida Keys Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).

The Stock Island animal shelter needs dog and cat biscuits, cat litter, rawhide chews, toys, laundry and dish detergent, bleach, paper towels, blankets, crates, pet beds and office supplies. The shelter does NOT need food, as it is part of Science Diet's feeding program.
