20 YEARS AGO

The United Way of Key West was collecting supplies for the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas that were damaged by Hurricane Andrew.

Monroe County schools started a week late because of Hurricane Andrew and had about 300 extra students in the Upper Keys from South Florida.

The multi-family residence located at 806 Truman Ave. sold for a reported $267,500.

Father George Cave, vicar of St. Columba's Episcopal Church, was elected president of the Marathon Ministerial Association.

The Monroe County Anti-Mosquito District returned to fogging because of promises by state representatives to find money in the next year.
