Groups ask SHAL to drop shelter
Nonprofits say agency created to administer grants now competes for funds

Nearly one year after the Southernmost Homeless Assistance League took over management of the island's overnight shelter on Stock Island, a group of nonprofits is calling upon SHAL to end its service contract with the city of Key West by Dec. 31.

Maybe DennIs Ward can take a look at their books - espically since the SHAL board has a criminal on it ... didn't we read the the school district hired a CPA - Gentile who lied about his certification and is also on the SHAL board? No wonder things are a mess when your board has a crriminal CPA running things!

24/7 enabling of the drunks and bums. Let's help those who want to help themselves not the others. The mentally ill should be in a mental facility, the drunks should be in a rehab facility. The 24/7 facility should be open only to those who are not drunk or high at the door.
