Boulevard update

KEY WEST: The last two-way section of North Roosevelt Boulevard -- between the Triangle and Kennedy Drive -- will be reduced to two, inbound-only lanes as of 8 a.m. Monday, city spokeswoman Alyson Crean said.

It means the entire boulevard will be inbound-only from the entrance of the island down to First Street/Palm Avenue. Crean said the city hoped to have Northside Drive and 14th Street/Glynn Archer Drive, a convenient shortcut, paved and open as of rush hour Monday. Outbound traffic must use South Roosevelt Boulevard.

Key West Sucks!

Seriously, what a bunch of backwards, retarded morons we have running this place. First of all, why in the HELL was Northside allowed to be closed during this N Roosevelt debacle? Second, why is that project taking so dam long? What the hell is wrong with this town? I swear, this whole mess is beyond idiotic. Thank God I live outside this asinine city and my tax dollars go to the county. Stupid, stupid people running Key West.

I hear ya!!

I'm with you buddy. After seven years of living in so-called "paradise," I'm outta hear. This pathetic, dirty, as-long-as-I-get-mine, overpriced to maintain a workforce that can't leave for the wealthy to come and crap all over everyone, people lying to and using each other, corruption the likes of Chicago or New York, on and on. The list is endless. Key West uses people up and throws them away. Maybe this construction will make them hurt enough to stop and think, but not likely. The crooks in commissioner seats will continue to make just enough off of cruise ships and other tourism vices that they continue to ignore how quickly this cesspool is imploding. Hope they have enough put away from a rainy day, because when it comes, this town is going to die an agonizing death. Fortunately, I'll be watching from far enough away in a place that has enough common sense to take what they have and receive to care for their own rather than themselves.

GOVERNMENT BUILT IT AND THEY TAKE IT AWAY

Many small business owners along Roosevelt Blvd. are at risk of having to close due to loss of business from the construction project. Based on the words of our president “ you didn’t build your business on your own, the Government built it” and it looks like now the government is taking it away.

"TARFUN" (Military use:

"TARFUN" (Military use: things are really f***ed up now.) It is a maze of madness. An SUV was turned over Yesterday 9/21; there were fire trucks, ambulance, police there., I guess it happened between 10/10:30pm and a little after 11pm between first and Roosevelt near Circle K and Shell stations. My husband saw the chaos on his way home from work. I wonder how fast was the SUV going to flip completely over upside down. Roosevelt is 25MPH period when there is construction. I can't believe how people ignore the actual sign that is posted 25mph and there should be more posted every 10 to 15 feet to keep reminding; the sign on the far side should be covered up that says 30mph. Also a police car should be posted near Kennedy drive, one near banner tire and shell, and one between police station and Bayview park and clocking every driver with a radar gun. Speeding in a construction zone is doubled ($555 but under a $1000). I don't think it is worth getting a fine, points against you (shows up on your car insurance and your rate goes up), and a nice appearance in court. P.S. Businesses are hurting because of this.

Then I Guess their Screwup on Kennedy doesn't matter.

These people are retarded. Tons of traffic was going down Kennedy to turn right onto Roosevelt and the right lane is straight and turn. So all the time the light is red or when it is a green arrow for left turns all the traffic going right sits there for the military people that are going straight ahead and traffic thus only turns for the short green light after the arrow. Thus traffic is all backed up all the way down Kennedy to Flagler. The left lane should have been left turn and straight and the right lane should be right turns only. Of course, nobody with any brains or sense planned this thing out or gave any consideration to the public. Are there any traffic engineers in this town who have a flipping clue?

Mmmkay

Moot point now. All traffic heading that direction on Kennedy will have to either head straight or turn left.

Stock Island Renaissance

Look on the bright side. It's a great time to own a business on Stock Island. Hurricane Hole, Hogfish and the new Rotisserie should all benefit from people who don't want to fight the traffic and will only dare to venture that far.

Not "Rotisserie"

That would be Roostica, not "Rotisserie", and most DEFINITELY worth a look. The food is to die for!

You got to be kidding!

The way they are working, there is now way it's going to be done by Monday! They were working till sundown a few weeks ago and on Saturdays, but recently that "hurry up and get it done" isn't happening. The street still needs to be filled in by gravel before they can pave it! I give it a few more weeks!

Good

It's time for this project to bring this one trick town to its knees. Let chaos and gridlock reign. Those passIng by on bicycles and foot shall wonder in amazement at the silly monkeys in their rolling metal co2 belching machines gnashing their teeth, texting, and stewing as their zombie carcasses rot in rush hour hell. Bring on the boat races. Bring on Fantasy Fest. Bring on the endless goat shows and unimaginative events. Fill this island of greed with tourists who are ready to have their cash seperated from their hands by the carnival games and booze factories we are so good at protecting.

Why in the world do you live here if you hate it all so much?

I suggest you move right back to Ohio where everything is to your liking. I'm guessing as well, that you are one of those who demanded your bike lanes, then insist on going the wrong way on the bike lane or refuse to use it at all.

Ohio

Never been to Ohio. Never been the wrong way on a bicycle either. I bet you text and drive and the inside of your car smells like a Big Mac and arm pits.
