Delicious Figs Are Too Often Underused in Cooking

Just as I was leaving France this summer, the luscious local black figs were appearing in markets. Perhaps it goes back to munching fig newtons as a kid but I love figs, especially fresh ones, tasty by themselves but even more delicious in recipes. They also make fine jams and chutneys.
