Boulevard update

KEY WEST: As of 8 a.m. this morning, the last two-way section of North Roosevelt Boulevard -- between the Triangle and Kennedy Drive -- was to be reduced to two, inbound-only lanes, according to city spokeswoman Alyson Crean.

That means the entire length of the boulevard is now inbound-only, from the entrance of the island down to First Street/Palm Avenue. Crean said the city hoped to have Northside Drive and 14th Street/Glynn Archer Drive, a convenient shortcut, paved and open as of rush hour today.

Outbound traffic now must use South Roosevelt Boulevard.

A case study

At some point in the future, this project will be used as a case study of how NOT to repair a road. These idiots are basically closing the whole town down for 3 years. There is hardly ever anyone working in most of the construction areas. I would not be surprised if many snowbirds list their homes and look elsewhere after a season or two of this madness. Oh well, maybe we can replace the wealthy snowbirds with some more cruise ships or another drunk Fest of some sort...
