A Sunday story about Navy fighter jet noise should have stated that former Navy Senior Engineering Test Pilot John Hammerstrom was an Aeronautical Engineering Duty Officer while in the Navy. However, Mr. Hammerstrom does not have a degree in engineering.

Also, the story should have stated that the Navy contends its transition from the F-14 Tomcat to the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornet was done with proper study.
