Bookings strong for Fantasy Fest
Official: Hotels'back to all-timehigh room rates'

There won't be many "vacancy" signs at island hotels for the upcoming annual onslaught of costumed revelers.

Key West is again gearing up for Fantasy Fest, which starts next weekend with the Goombay celebration and coronation of the Fantasy Fest king and queen, and hotel bookings "are looking very good," said Jodi Weinhofer, president of the Lodging As...

Expertise is relative

Everyone is an expert on Key West relative to the time that they arrived. I have followed your posts for a couple of years or more and I don't think that you have been here for even ten years.

It is presumptuous of you to lecture residents who have lived her 20, 30, 40 years -- or their entire lives -- based on your limited and recent experiences.

Negative Comments are really old.

Dear commenters: Either you don't live here or you are without a clue. If you live here, it is your choice that you moved to a tourist trap. It is no secret that this town depends on tourism. It is also no secret that tourists have lots of places to go. The reason they come here is because to a small degree they get to do things they can't do in other tourist destinations. Even if you don't directly make your money from tourism, like you have a pension or are rich, you still benefit from it in countless ways. If you don't like it, like this idiot Mac, why are you here? You live in a tourist town. If you don't want to live in a tourist trap, then leave. Move to St. Pete or Naples or somewhere boring with all the other old people. Mac especially, give it a rest, you are obviously old and really boring. Do you ever get laid? Never mind I don't want to know, but probably not from the sound of you. Are you also FTR? Why don't you move somewhere and join the whinner chorus? You probably don't even live in Old Town, if you live in Key West at all. You are just a whinning poser in all liklihood. Personally I don't make any money on Fantasy Fest or tourists. I make my money on the internet and can live anywhere I want and I do with residences in five different cities and countries. Go away Mac you loser.

Yep, dan

Seldom do people who are well off write about their possessions. And I think the only internet business you have is the crap you post in here. And, 666, we finally agree 100% on something!!!! Maybe there is hope for mankind afterall!

Your so special Dan

Your so special with your Internet business and 5 homes. Why do I think you are typing this from the library waiting for KOTS to open? LOL

Thank you!

Your post says it all and I agree 1000%!!

Dumb and dumber

What else can you expect.

I can't wait

I don't know what will be funnier, watching a bunch of middle age nudes drink they fall down, or hearing the screams from New Town when it takes you an hour to get to Publix!

We should all parade by Mac's House

each day and wish him a Happy Fantasy Fest!

Stop Complaining!!

I'm sick of everyone complaining about fantasy fest. Do you know how much the lives of bartenders and servers would suck if FF was gone? October may as well be September, part 2!

This is the busiest

This is the busiest September in years. If you don't make enough, change jobs or budget better.

Bartenders

Because bartenders are the pinnacle of our economy .......

Excuse me?

As a bartender on this island for more than twenty two years, at the same location by the way, I really don't care for remarks like that. I have purchased property, paid taxes on said property, and am currently raising two children here. How much money have YOU put back into the local economy?

How many DUI'S are you indirectly

responsible for ? That's contributing to our community.

Really?

Seriously? That's an old, tired argument. Gun shop owners are responsible for gun deaths too right? McDonalds made your kid fat too, huh? (still shaking head)

Blare the Trumpets

For a star is born.

Say what?

And by that, you mean what exactly? (shakes head, again)

Fat Fest

I wonder if there's even the remotest possibility that our police dept will enforce the city's nudity laws this year or simply watch and laugh as usual?

Don't be silly, Mac!

Perhaps if our laws were not

Perhaps if our laws were not archaic. Up in puritanical Boston, nudity isn't illegal unless it is done with the intent to shock or harm. Also in other cities, men and women have equal protection under the law so topless sunbathing is legal, but not here in open-minded Key West.

You're still here?

Why haven't you left yet, since all you do is complain? Isn't there somewhere on the mainland that will make you happier?

I couldn't

have said it better! What I want to know is what Mac has against nudity? I imagine he undresses in the dark so he doesn't offend himself!

Quite Revealing

that you would imagine Mac undressing.

Hope

Hope they just watch and laugh as usual. This is a party!!! Lighten up.
