Today's outboard motors are sophisticated and highly dependable machines. However, there are finite limits to engineering designs and materials, so it is just a matter of time before you find yourself eventually needing a good mechanic to get you back out on the water. As I always say, when you build something out of metal and dip it in saltwater -- you gonna have problems.
