Political signs show support and pride
Sheriff warns of arrest for removing or damaging political signs

Monroe County Sheriff candidate Rick Ramsay calls political signs a necessary evil and he should know, he's spent about $10,000 this election season on placards bearing his name.

"I've probably got more signs out there than anybody else in the county," Ramsay said. "Yes, I think they're gaudy, but they're important. You have to get your name out there and n...

Height of Conciet

For those of you who may have missed the Home Town Pac forum at the Conch Flyer on Monday night, Ramsay, who believes that it is his right to be sheriff, was being his normal arrogant self but went far beyond his regular selfishness. When asked what regrets he might have in his 25 yr career at MCSO he said it was that he hadn't run for Sheriff a few years earlier. You could have heard a pin drop after that statement. No thought as to others or fallen officers like Melissa Powers. No regard for anyone but himself. No wonder that his own officers refer to him as "The Robot". I don't believe that he cares about his own people OR the public unless they can help him in his quest for more power. Really?! Is that we want running the Sheriff's Dept? Most would obviously say no. On Nov 6 just say NO to Ramsay. We can't afford him or his thugs.

FACTs...

It is a FACT of law that Ramsay is running illegally for the office of Sheriff as a Republican. Ramsay is over Federal funds and has been even before the primary race. According to the Supreme court his victory in the primary race can be over turned. The fact that the Republican party supports Ramsay is maybe why they let him campaign in uniform from the podium last meeting. They know the law, why don't they follow it. Ramsay needs to quit running or quit the Sheriffs office. It is a violation of the federal Hatch Act. And so is the colonel running for office while still employed at the MCSO. See http://www.osc.gov/haStateLocalwhoiscovered.htm Remember the colonels own words...He is intimately involved in every aspect of the administration at the Sheriffs Office. He has made that claim at every public forum. He supervises everyone who is responsible for the money received from the federal government. Everything from body armor to the administration of the HIDTA program. The primary purpose for the Hatch act was to prevent the type of behavior we are witnessing the Colonel and his admin staff participate in on a daily basis. Every day I am hearing about harassment of deputies and citizens who support Tom Peteck. Think about it for a moment, if the colonel was no longer the colonel and running for sheriff, would anyone at the MCSO support him? More importantly why hasn't the local news organizations covered the topic? They certainly tried to gig Sheriff Bob when he was running for office 4 years ago.

Nice press release Sheriff

Now what are you going to do about your command staff who have visited private citizens and business owners up an down the keys, brow beating and harassing them into taking down Peteck's signs and replacing them with Ramsay's signs? Have you given any guidance to the members of your staff regarding politicking while on duty, or while wearing the uniform?

Before anyone demands proof and instead pooh poohs the allegations, put yourself in the place of these individuals and businessman. Do you honestly believe they would come forward while those who have harassed them are still in office? They will come forward to the Sheriff on Nov 7th, after Peteck has won the election, only then do they feel safe.

So join me in voting for Tom Peteck for sheriff and put an end to the thuggery being practiced by certain command level staff officers of the MCSO.

You ask why do I care.... I care because I am a retired command level law enforcement officer, and to see this behaivor by a certain few pisses me off, because they are direct opposition to the code of ethics they swore to live by when they put on their badge.

He will spent our money the same way

I remember hearing him once refer to higher taxes for law enforcement as a necessary evil and he will raise ours. The signs he has put up make the Keys look like a tacky carnival for this cute boy, waiting to become the heir of his Kingdom. Every Deputy I know in private has little respect for Ricky.
