Key West's K-8 school on track, on time for fall
Despite trials and tribulations, HOB becomes 'great looking school'

At last count by the local school district, the combination middle and elementary Horace O'Bryant School due to open next fall has cost $30 million and is expected to finish out as a $39.7 million project.

Everyone's happy?

Happy that this is 30 percent over budget? Happy that several homes have been destroyed by the blatant disregard of height limits and zoning? Happy that this palace will do little to educate kids who learn from parents and great teachers, not fancy buildings. This is a white elephant that will cost a fortune to maintain and will do little to improve student learning. Sorry, I don't begrudge our kids a nice school, but this is ridiculous.

The kids that had breathing and or health problems

from the old school have mysteriously been cured! They no longer have to miss days from school and are doing better in school because of this. From a parent of a health challenged child thank you!

Will ALL the people from GRA be offered jobs at HOB? A school doesn't really need two principals/two office managers, etc.
