Teachers union loses final appeal
Contract still at impasse, School Board blames cuts on lack of money

The local teachers union has struck out for good in appealing the school district's decision to freeze raises and mandate seven furlough days for the 2011-12 school year, but the union remains at impasse with management over this year's budget cuts.

Without releasing a written opinion, the Florida First District Court of Appeal on Oct. 18 rejected the United Teachers of Monr...

Again Mr. Dick...really?

John, no one is even hearing you anymore. No one is interested in your political deflection. What you have done to the teachers and tax payers of this community is unforgivable. You have overseen a shell game where it appears the intent is to show the financial picture as dire as possible in order to justify treating our teachers and support staff poorly and then get a review at a school board meeting that shows things are not as bad as your justification for your actions. And here, in this article, it is somehow the teacher's unions fault that you have hired inept people at huge salaries who you have no faith in providing valid numbers to work from and a labor attorney to act as a blocking dummy to the whole collaberative process. As a board, instead of directing administration to work hand in hand with the people effected by a tight budget year and find the least damaging way that everyone could bite the bullet together with minimal impact to the classroom, you have decided that you would establish a regime where John Dick can do what he wants and put in place measures to make sure no one can get to you. With my tax dollars. It must be the Union's fault for defending a contract that you directed to be negotiated and voted to accept unanimously as a board. Hopefully this election cycle will clear out both Duncan and Andy. Your re-election cycle can't come soon enough.

Dick has no credibility among those who think! and never has

John Dick, your house of cards is falling hard. You are personally reponsible for irreparable destruction to the school district. You are personally liable for engendering a hostile work environment for some of the most ethincal and effective educators in Monroe County. You need to follow the fool Jara with whom you had a pact. You are the anthesis of a leader and more people know it every day.

Speaking of re-election

You might not make it either

John Dick's main goal: Look like a hero!

He loves to tout himself in the media by spinning all facts in his favor. He exalts himself shamelessly above teachers. He and Mr. Griffiths have unashamedly painted teachers as greed-mongering got-miners! Mr. Dick just keeps spinning the facts, and most people are foolish enough to forget that under HIS watch, audits were failed and his one-liner "dollars to the classroom" and delusional mantras have never been delivered on. Period. Remember, Mr. Dick, you can opt for a longer spin cycle in the wash, but unless you add detergent, dirty clothes still stinks.

Dick

And while dick is bashing teachers and the union he's playing both sides. His family collects over $10k a year from his wife's (Lourdes Dick) position on the negotiating team (that doesn't negotiate), the epic performance pay committee (which distributes pay to no one but mrs dick) and the union executive board - which decides what suits to file. The Dick family is ruining the schools from both sides, and spreading the blame.
