Massive, majestic and spectacular palm

Bismarckia nobilis was named after the first chancellor of the German Empire, Otto von Bismarck. It could have obtained the moniker nobilis in order to flatter Otto, or the taxonomist may have been impressed by the size and stature of the palm. It is the only plant in its genus.
