Chris Hollis Bethel

Sept. 6, 1942-Oct. 17, 2012

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Chris. An extraordinary man with a true sense of community, he was always eager to help those around him in any way possible. He passed at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton with his daughter, Sherri Bethel, cousin, Hubert Bethel, and devoted friend Chuck Andrews at his side, as well as being in the thoughts and prayers of many other family and friends. He will be sorely missed.

Chris was the middle son of Warren A. and Corrine Bethel of Key West, Fla. He was predeceased by his brothers Donovan and Joseph Bethel. After growing up in Key West, he moved to Marathon, where he eventually began his 30-plus year career with Florida Keys Electric Co-op. Not being able to truly retire, he began a second career with Dean-Lopez Funeral Home in Key West, where he worked until he became too ill.

Sherri wishes to express her profound gratitude to the staff at Cleveland Clinic and Hospice by the Sea, as well as the scores of other people who blessed Chris' rich and meaningful life. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Dean-Lopez Funeral Home in Key West. His wishes were to be cremated, and we ask for no flowers. If anyone wishes, a donation to Hospice by the Sea, 1531 W. Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, FL 33486, would be lovely. The Dean-Lopez Funeral Home is entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
