Weren't these the same guys

who wanted to make condos out of that old water tank near Green and Whitehead? Or was that some other visionary?

Swift and Belland have a failed project

that has nothing to do with the roof. Even at reduced prices they will not sell. One reason they do not sell is the poor view . Public housing to the east , the school property to the north and CG station . South is the ferry terminal and west, Wisteria with abandoned sailboats aground. Not the tropical vista on drops big money on . Million dollar condos in an industrial area. Poor planning and forethought sank this project, not a leaky roof.

Absolutely. It's just their attempt to try to mitigate their

losses on this failed project. Now, this mess will be on the books because of this lease, for 99 years. Of course, that is unless it's repo'd. Then we'll have another big mess like the old Cortex mess by the schooner wharf. The people take a hit every time these 'high rollers' who are KNOWN not to pay their bills, plays their games.

Swifty and Belland have not ever paid their leases or franchise fees on time for any of the train and trolly properties or for their business. Most of their properties are in foreclosure on Duval because rather than maintain their properties and reduce rent, they allowed them to go into foreclosure. Bad business decisions abound with these two and their business practices. No wonder everyone spits up in the back of their mouths when they read Belland's 'happy days' ramblings in the paper.

Why Now?

Those problems have existed since the place was built. Why are Swift and Belland just now filing suit? Sounds to me like an attempt to keep foreclosure at bay.

Typical Keys construction???

That sounds about right! That's the typical results of Keys work ethics shining thru! My father was hired by the plumbing contractor to come in and get it donr the right way, he basically started by cleaning house and firing every single drunk and drug addict that they had working around there! This is basically what happens in the Keys when you have garbage workers trying to do real work! Good luck with all that now!

Another Swift Mess!

I bet Swift & Co wish they had never dreamed up The Steamplant! What a disaster! No wonder they've been only able to sell a two units in 3 years to unsuspecting bargain-hunters from out-of-town who are unaware of the myriad of problems over there. The 99 year lease will expire before that mess gets cleaned up. The only good side is that it couldn't have happened to nicer people than Swift and Beland!

Hey, why not

If you default on your payments, do not take accountability for an investment risk in a down market, and do not have a decent moral bone in your body.... Hey, why not sue the living $&@( out of everybody and their brother for ridicules amounts of cash!
