Boulevard Project Update NOV. 15-21

Planned this week:

Sewer, water line installation, drainage system work; equipment to be secured Wednesday for Thanksgiving weekend. Work to resume Nov. 26.

Nov. 15: Day 207 of 820

Start date: April 23, 2012

End date: Aug. 20, 2014

Percent complete: 25.5%

Holiday/rain days: 26

Storm days: 2

This week's FAQ:

Why don't they finish one section at a time instead of tearing up the entire road?

Because the scope of work requires different specialized crews, including those for sewer and water lines. A section at a time would mean those crews would be idle until their "turn" each time, adding at least a year and substantial costs to the project, according to FDOT. With the entire road ready for construction, sewer, water, seawall and other work can be done simultaneously in varying locations.
