Mariner's Hospital was forming a new management alliance with South Miami Hospital that allowed Mariner's to benefit by joint purchasing with the larger hospital.

A woman reported her 10-foot gray houseboat with a 10-horsepower motor was stolen from South Roosevelt Boulevard.

The Key West Police Department was holding its second annual Open House and offering guided tours at the station on Angela Street.


Air Force, Navy and Marine fighter units, sent to Key West during the Cuban Missile Crisis, left for their home fields.

The American Legion Carnival, which had been closed for gambling, was allowed to reopen after the gambling booths were removed.

The Key West High School Band and Conchettes were one of 50 groups invited to join the Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington, DC.
