Emerald trial starts in Key West federal building

It's almost like something out of "Treasure Island," a federal judge briefly mused during a light moment in a Key West federal courtroom Monday -- but the judge didn't mention Robert Louis Stevenson would have to replace pirates with lawyers and court motions for sabers in this modern adaptation.

The comparison arose due to questions over the origins of a hand-drawn treasure...

Duel

This ridiculous farce should be settled with a pistol duel at thirty paces in the shade of the kapok tree at the courthouse building on Whitehead street. Rum drinks and conch salad should be sold prior to and during the duel to help defray some of the court costs. Winner to dispose of the loser at sea with a Viking burial.
