Key West hires new lobbying firm that costs extra $20K

The city of Key West will spend $20,000 more than what it had budgeted for federal lobbying, as commissioners decided to make a switch after putting the job out to bid.

In their own words, Alcalde and Fay writes:

"There are some who would say that Alcalde & Fay and "maritime" are synonymous. After all, we've been representing the interests of the cruise lines, maritime industry and some of our nation's largest seaports for over 30 years."

Expose the crooks to the light.

Why are we not surprised that the only two nay votes came from Rossi and duh mayor? And duh mayor's faux indignity at the suggestion that the cruise industry might try to do something underhanded is quite telling.

We are all aware of Rossi's close relationship with the cruise industry-- his annual cruises, etc. And the State Attorney's office even investigated his involvement in the recent secret testing of a mega cruise ship in our ecologically-sensitive harbor. Of course they failed to produce any results. There was, after all, an election in progress.

But when are the feds going to investigate Rossi's close relationship to the cruise industry. He's clearly benefiting financially from his votes on the city commission, yet state and federal officials look the other way. Where's the SA's office? Where's the FBI? Hey, guys, it's all right there in front of you-- do something!
