Dr Jon Ain

Dr Jon Ain, born Aug. 12, 1944, of Sugarloaf Key, passed away on Wednesday Nov. 28 at his home in Vail Colo. As an angler, and a good friend to many in the fishing community, Jon was well known for his tireless pursuit of permit on fly and an ardent conservationist. Along with guides and the Bonefish Tarpon Trust, Jon was instrumental and led the effort to protect the fish and the fishery he loved so much. Jon had a passion for life and enjoyed powder skiing, flying, biking and cooking. He is survived by his wife Shirley Ain, stepdaughters Tamara and Erica Summy, his sister Noa Ain, niece Julia Krupa and his loyal hound Merkin. Jon will be missed by many but his legacy will continue with the tournament he co-founded, The March Merkin Permit Tournament. A memorial fund has been set up through Bonefish Tarpon Trust for donations to continue in Jon's honor. To donate, go to http://www.tarbone.org/
