'Full-court press' for BP millions
County to hire lobbyists to go after mandatory Clean Water Act fines

Monroe County is full-steam ahead in its quest for BP money, County Mayor George Neugent said, as the sum is historic and its equal may not be available again in this lifetime.

The County Commission agreed Wednesday to hire two lobbying firms to go after BP fines, which could reach $20 billion, with $5 million to $23 million for the Keys. The commission tentatively approved...
