When a criminal cases a potential target or a lunatic decides to vent their rage into physical action, they evaluate the chances of success and the threat of being stopped before successfully fulfilling their mission, thus they often pick weak targets over strong ones. What the anti-gun weaklings propose is to dis-arm this nation in steps, but they never consider what would happen if the millions of illegal aliens that manage to sneak into this country annually decide to take up arms and acquire by force what they can't already get by manipulating our system. The only thing holding everything together is the state of the economy, the belief still is if you play the system it will reward you, but what if that system fails? What if our government loses control? What if we segment ourselves along ethnic groups and wage war for resources to survive? Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. A school teacher mom and kids are dead because she didn't learn how to properly secure her weapons, this was a error in judgement or training, much like the military doctor that went nuts and killed several of his own troop members. The military took steps to minimize such actions from being able to occur so easily again, makes no sense to disarm our nation and the military certainly didn't because the greater good is what they need to focus their attention on, loose that focus and we are doomed like history teaches us.

Donnie Lee is a good, good man. In fact, the ATF's hands are tied by stupid laws written by NRA lobbyists and passed by compliant Congressmen and state legislators who take gobs of NRA money.

Customers can legally buy as many weapons as they want in Arizona as long as they're 18 or older and pass a criminal background check. There are no waiting periods and no need for permits, and buyers are allowed to resell the guns. "In Arizona," says Voth, "someone buying three guns is like someone buying a sandwich."

By 2009 the Sinaloa drug cartel had made Phoenix its gun supermarket and recruited young Americans as its designated shoppers or straw purchasers. Voth and his agents began investigating a group of buyers, some not even old enough to buy beer, whose members were plunking down as much as $20,000 in cash to purchase up to 20 semiautomatics at a time, and then delivering the weapons to others.

How can alcohol be blamed for 100,000 deaths each year? 5% of all deaths from diseases of the circulatory system are attributed to alcohol. 15% of all deaths from diseases of the respiratory system are attributed to alcohol. 30% of all deaths from accidents caused by fire and flames are attributed to alcohol. 30% of all accidental drownings are attributed to alcohol. 30% of all suicides are attributed to alcohol. 40% of all deaths due to accidental falls are attributed to alcohol. 45% of all deaths in automobile accidents are attributed to alcohol. 60% of all homicides are attributed to alcohol. A person is more likely to die from a coconut falling from your Old Town neighbor’s tree than being a victim of a school shooting. Note to Chief Lee: The real scourge of society flows freely right in our own backyard. Surely you have witnessed, both professionally and personally the devastating consequences of this great beguilement aka booze! By the way the number of deaths directly related to marijuana usage: Zero! One day we will look back with horror and regret the way our criminal justice system has ruined lives of millions via our archaic and antiquated marijuana laws. I hope one day Florida will see that it was not marijuana or even a very random school shootings that ravaged society so pervasively and destructively. It was alcohol. Stop the NRA before it kills AGAIN.

A assault weapons ban is going to leave our country vulnerable to a mass invasion by a large enemy force, not to mention criminals would carry them and traffic in them much like they do drugs. A better solution is more well rounded approach, secure the schools and other locations where large amounts of particularly vulnerable people are, require more training and education in the safe handling and securing of such weapons. Invite people to talk about their gun ownership and correct any errors in judgement they might have made. Guns don't kill people, people kill people. There are other methods to kill the helpless and the loonies would just switch tactics.

Why ? They are easy to get, they are in the police cars , easily accessable apparently. Easy enough for a teenager at least. Admiral Yamamoto in WWll summed it up in one statement . "Japan could never invade America, there would be a gun behind every bush." Private ownership of guns is what has kept this country free. Ban guns , the deranged will use a bow ,or a spear, or an explosive, banning an object won't stop destructive actions.

.....Sandy Hook tragedy demonstrates his unwillingness and inability to process this incident with depth, clarity, veracity and courage. Mr. Lee's knee-jerk mantras embody the reasons why we have been unable to concentrate and focus upon the real causes of violence in America. Chief Lee and other politicos appear to be willing to use the tragic deaths of these children to advance their own political ideology. Because of their disingenuous positions, nothing has been done to address and re-direct the violent consciousness that has taken hold of our nation. It appears that Donnie Lee and his ilk would rather capture politically correct headlines, than actually face and speak the truth on the reasons why we have continued on this horrific violent path. Apparently, Lee's indoctrinated understanding and biases preclude him from making such an assessment. Mr. Lee's emotional appeal to "Start Somewhere", indicates that 'He Does Not Know Where To Begin'. His helter-skelter understanding and thinking on this very serious matter; is indicative that Mr. Lee lacks perspective and maturity, when it comes to an issue requiring objectivity, detailed analysis and analytical reasoning. Hopefully the County and City Commissions will not be duped by the duplicity of Mr. Lee's rhetoric...

If the Chief feels that assault weapons are so dangerous.....the very first ones to lose them....should be the Sheriff's Department. This guy Fricke leaving assault weapons and ammunition in his cruiser......for the weekend...out in the middle of nowhere on Big Pine.....didn't exactly "set a good example" now...did it? Sad as it is.....this kid was a nut case. The news yesterday clearly stated that even the Mom....was attempting to "place" him in a facility...."and was afraid of him". Can you say: HELLO!!!!! WARNING SIGNS!!!!! GET SOME PROFESSIONAL HELP RIGHT AWAY HONEY!!!!!! HELLO!!!!!! But....she didn't . Why..on earth....did this woman feel that she needed an "assault weapon" with 30 shot clips....as well as 2 different brands of 9 MM. handguns......and tons of ammunition........in her big, beautiful home up there in "happy valley" where everyone loved everyone? ANSWER: SHE DIDN'T. She.....thought that it was cool. No other reason. The blame for this tragedy.....sits squarely in this woman's lap. She....either left these weapons laying around the house....unsecured.....with a nut case kid living there.....or....she let the nut case kid know where the keys were to the locks. IT'S THAT SIMPLE. The guns....can't shoot themselves. Sorry Chief.
