Celebrity Pilates teacher offers lessons

KEY LARGO -- Celebrity Pilates expert Mari Winsor is traveling to Key Largo for two days next month to offer lessons and workshops at Pilates in Paradise, Mile Marker 103.

She will be teaching in the Key Largo studio Jan. 18 and 19.

Since earning her Pilates certification, Winsor has been helping to shape, tone and strengthen the bodies of Hollywood's A-listers. The owner of two California Winsor Pilates studios, she counts among her clients Drew Barrymore, Elizabeth Berkeley, Minnie Driver, Daisy Fuentes, Jasmine Guy, Jewel, Melanie Griffith, Meg Ryan, Sharon Stone, Marisa Tomei, Courtney Thorne-Smith and Dita Von Tees and others.

Pilates in Paradise owner Christi Allen said she first met Winsor in 2003 in New York City at a seminar with Romana Kryzanowska, who trained with Joseph Pilates and took over his New York studio upon his death.

"It was so exciting to me to be able to work out side by side with Mari," Allen said." I had admired what she has done for our Pilates community, helping spread the good work of Pilates into millions of people's homes.

"Since that day, I dreamed of being able to bring Mari to Pilates in Paradise. Ten years later, I am thrilled to finally be able to share her expertise with everyone."

Mari opened her first Pilates studio in Los Angeles in 1990, and introduced her innovative signature workout, "dynamic sequencing," based on techniques developed by Joseph Pilates.

It didn't take long for musicians, professional athletes and celebrities to flock to her studio.

In 1992, she began studying with Kryzanowska, and less than a decade later released her first Pilates infomercial and the Winsor Pilates workout series, which have now sold more than 50 million copies.
