The schooner New Way left after a week visit to the island. The schooner was formerly the Western Union built in Key West.
Prisoners in the Monroe County Jail in the courthouse on Whitehead Street were also reporting problems with rats in the first floor kitchen.

Mr and Mrs. Donald W. Becker purchased the home at 2827 Patterson Ave. from Mr. and Mrs. Wherter Yongue.
The Town House Motor Inn at the corner of Duval and Fleming streets was having an open house on New Year's Eve with no minimum and no cover at the Mermaid Lounge and Town Rooms.
