John Fryer Sr., 94, of Key West, Fla., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Key West Health & Rehabilitation. He was born Dec. 11, 1918, at Fleetwood, England. He served in the British Navy during WWII as a chief petty officer. He moved to the United States from England and started working for the Western Union in New York. In the 1950s, he transferred with the Western Union to Key West. John moved to Cape Canaveral, Fla., and began working for Pan Am as an engineer for the space shuttle. He retired from Pan Am and returned to Key West.

He was a devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Fryer; son John Fryer Jr.; sisters, Joan and Marjorie. He is survived by his daughter, Linda Fryer of Key West; son James Fryer; grandson Jonathan Fryer. Memorial services will be held at a later date. The Dean-Lopez Funeral Home is entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
