SYLVIA M. WEBBER

Sylvia M. Webber ( nee Roberts) passed away on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, after a brief illness. Born to Harry and Mizpah Munro Roberts in Key West, Fla., on Aug. 13, 1924. Sylvia was a rare third-generation Conch who met her husband, Frank, in Key West when he was stationed on the island as a young Marine. Together they raised a family of eight children in South Florida, remaining active in church and community. She was beloved by her family and many friends and will be greatly missed. During her long and busy life, Sylvia was an wonderful gardener, with a particular love for raising orchids. Her recipe box is coveted for the records of local cuisines she cooked for decades. A lover of flowers and art, her gracious home was filled with her collections of seashells and photographs. Many stories of her life and her love for her family will be told during the weeks to come, because most of all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband, Francis P. Webber; children, Allison Webber Maleckesen, Cecelia Webber Bistrong, Kate Webber and Peter Webber. She is survived by Janet Webber, Mary Ann Webber French, Mark Webber and John Webber; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Holy Rosary-St. Richard Catholic Church, 7500 SW 152 St., Palmetto Bay, Fla.
