Millicent "Synde" Klein, 56, passed peacefully on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Miami Baptist Hospital after battling a long illness.

Synde was born on April 29, 1956, in Brooklyn, N.Y., but spent the best of her days in Key West. She was involved in local mental health organizations such as Helpline of the Keys, and worked in the food industry for more than 25 years. She was a nurturing giver, best known for her many selfless acts of kindness.

Surviving relatives include her mother, Faye Klein of Key West; brother, Robert Klein of Fort Myers, Fla.; sister, Deborah Leonard of Maine; son, Billy Rivera of Key West; two grandchildren, Elijah and Eloise; life partner, Albert Martinez of Key West; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of other family members and loving friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, in the Buttonwood Room, at DoubleTree Grand Key Resort.
