Hotels packed, room rates higher
Christmas, New Year's brought more people who spent more money

Tourism statistics released this week prove what residents were noticing throughout the New Year's holiday: The Florida Keys were packed.

That's all well'n'good for

That's all well'n'good for the hotel/motel/resorts, but what about the businesses other than what has been mentioned? Besides bar/club, besides the "all T-shirt shops look the same. I am talking about the antique shops, side street shops and shops down the 700 to 1000 block, Butterfly conservatory, etc; how are they fairing?

Just goes to prove, two things:

1. We don't need cruise ships.

2. Time to claim more BP money.
