Loaded handgun stolen from unlocked car
Revolver was left in driver's side door slot, car was parked at movie theater

While a local prosecutor and his stepfather watched a movie Saturday night, a burglar swiped a loaded handgun from inside the unlocked sport utility vehicle they had left parked outside.

As of Monday, the Taurus "Public Defender" handgun, which retails for $550 and was fully loaded with five .410 caliber shotgun shells, remained missing in action for the owner a...

Two very incompetent

idiots. One (Mr Black) is trying to minimize the seriousness of his actions by saying "over 25 feet" the effects are like BB's. It's not minimal when some thug shoots someone at close range (which most shootings are)and and kills them. The other can't decide if he forgot to lock car or it malfunctioned. And his employer dismisses it as a "mistake"?

No punishment for him?

No punishment for him?

:::sigh:::: Yet another glaring example as to why weapons

:::sigh:::: Yet another glaring example as to why weapons should be registered, and why the registered owner must be held accountable for any crime committed with their weapons. If that were done, I doubt there'd be many stolen guns. This guy was obviously careless. And wow! He's supposed to be MORE responsible.

Geez

I'm not a big fan of the current war on guns, but idiots who leave loaded guns in unlocked cars certainly don't help. A SWAT officer and now a prosecutor? What the heck is wrong with you people? Not locking your car door is dumb enough as it is, but then to leave a loaded gun unsecured? I'll say it. You people are stupid!

He might have had a bigger problem with it in his waistband...

Let's see, he didn't lock the car. I wonder if he would have had the safety on when he stuffed the gun in his pants.

Not comforting

It is not comforting to know that some folks who carry guns, especially when they are officers of the court, are careless enough to leave them in unlocked cars. Now there's another gun in the hands of a felon -- thanks to a prosecutor.

What criminals do is...

...they go around trying door handles to see what vehicles are open. What sometimes occurs is the electronic remote gets accidentally pressed when people walk away placing the remote into their pockets. I had this happen to me and had stuff stolen, I've seen trunks of people's cars open up as they walk away as well. Although the prosecutor needed the gun easily accessible, it still should have been secured in a fashion to prevent others from easily gaining access.
